Bega Valley Shire Council is partnering with The Global Foundation to provide a unique, regional roundtable discussion on Monday 10 August, blending local, national and global participation.
The Bega Valley Roundtable will be the next in a series of ongoing roundtable discussions about Australia’s national strategy and policies for the future, in a global context.
This event is convened by the non-profit citizens’ organisation, The Global Foundation and follows on from earlier roundtable discussions convened by the Foundation in Melbourne and Sydney.
Topics to be canvassed at the 10 August Zoom video conference include:
Key speakers ‘Zooming’ in on the day include:
As well as a host of Bega Valley voices, the whole community is invited to take part and contribute to the discussion via a live stream to Bega Valley Shire Council’s Facebook page.
“We find ourselves at a point in time that invites reflection on where we have come from and what we want for our future,” said Council’s General Manager, Leanne Barnes.
“The roundtable will connect us with a broader, deeper pool of thinkers and ideas that will help inspire the discussions that are already underway locally.”
The Global Foundation brings together cross-sections of people of goodwill, who have demonstrated leadership in their respective roles in society so that they can freely exchange ideas and build collaboration.
It is the ambition of The Global Foundation that the Bega Valley Roundtable will serve two purposes:
The outcomes of the discussions will feed into the overall Australian national strategy project of the Global Foundation, bringing to bear a regional perspective based around Bega Valley.
“Out of this, those involved or taking part via the live stream may choose to pursue initiatives and collaborations emerging from the roundtable discussions and take action locally that builds our prosperity,” Ms Barnes said.
Considering COVIDSafe guidelines, the Bega Valley Roundtable will progress as a Zoom video conference between 2pm and 5:30pm on Monday 10 August. The community can join the discussion via the live stream to Council’s Facebook page.
